Chihuly Workshop Announces Newest Print

Day Glow

Chihuly Workshop announces the release of its newest print, Day Glow.

Impressive for their scale, Chihuly’s Niijima Floats are also recognized for their form and lustrous color palette. Chihuly named the series after the Japanese fishing floats he found as a child on the shores of Puget Sound and his experience working on the island of Niijima, Japan, in the early 1990’s.

Applying several layers of acrylic paint, Chihuly employs this series in his new print, Day Glow, an electrifying color composition. The serigraphy colors in the background transition from mango to a brilliant multilayered orange. Royal blue and bright yellow handwork define the perimeter of the Float, while purple tones delineate the center. The end result is a captivating impression exemplifying the artists’ exploration of rich surface areas in glass and its translations onto paper. Day Glow is a four-color serigraph with handwork and is signed by Chihuly in custom paint.
