Chihuly at Arthur Roger Gallery

Clear Spire Chandelier, 2014

Chihuly at Arthur Roger Gallery opens today. This is the artist’s ninth exhibition at the gallery.

Artwork will be on view April 26 – July 12, 2014 with an opening reception on May 3. The exhibition includes new architectural installations along with setworks representing the breadth and scope of the artist’s vision over the last four decades. Artwork on view includes ChandeliersNeodymium Reeds on Burned LogFiori and Soft Cylinders

Continuing to evolve his Soft Cylinder series, Chihuly revisited these artworks in spring 2014 pushing the technique, scale and color in unprecedented ways. The new Soft Cylinder color selections are bright hues including scarlet, turquoise, tangerine and persimmon done with bold saturation. The history behind these pieces spans decades – a combination of his Cylinders and Baskets, he started the Soft Cylinders series in 1984. Initially working with Flora C. Mace on the pick-up drawing and now Mace and Joey Kirkpatrick, the team celebrates 30 years of this iconic series.
